Pictures from Reelfoot

As is normal for us, we try and cram every bit of adventure we can into our trips....

The Mighty Mississippi River

And if you want to get a cell phone signal...yes you too will have to go here

Our rental for this trip was a 2012 GMC Acadia . Very roomy, highly recommend it !

Until our Next Adventure.....

The Spillway

It's called the spillway by locals, and is actually in a section of town which is also named 'Spillway'. We were told by a local to go here...that the fishing was amazing, so of course we did. Parking on the side of the road, and taking a little hike to where areas were cleared off to get down to the water. It was beautiful..even with the mosquito bites, poison ivy and fishing lines and junk left here and there, watching the bounty of large fish that you could literally see swimming in the spillway waters, took my breath away...
The only disappointment was in seeing a group of snag fisherman. Never having heard the term before and being shown against our wishes what it was, we never want to see it again.

Here are our memories..

Don't worry..he is just getting it loose from the net

And you should have seen the one that got away...literally ! Aric's second gar catch of the day.

The pathway back to the fishing area

Doesn't look like much, but it was

Catie....well..she actually did catch a rock

Reptiles at Reelfoot

Although there are many species of snakes at Reelfoot, apparently it was just too hot for most of them to be out and about, but here is what we saw..

Diamondback Watersnake

This little water snake swam through the water with his dinner , which was a baby catfish

Reelfoot Experiences

Of course we are always on the 'hunt' for reptiles to photograph on our trips..and the amazing number of different species of turtles at Reelfoot was like none we have ever seen.
These are picture we snapped with our Canon Rebel XT .

More from Reelfoot

Just some recommendations from us personally, from our own experience. We stopped at many places trying to rent a boat, and were sent on to this or that location. You will not find a boat rental at many places, in fact, out of season, we had a hard time finding a friendly face until we 'landed' at Bo's Landing. At Bo's Landing you can find just about any kind of fishing equipment you need, including rods, and bait. He will also rent you a boat for $35.00 for a day...however, after drooling over the selection of bank sinkers he had ( a personal odd little quirk of mine )....we bought Catie's stinky bait and decided to rent something elsewhere. Aric and Catie wanted a Kayak.
Now you just don't know what we went through trying to find a place to rent a Kayak, and when we finally did find THE place, the owner was not home....After a few tries we finally connected and we had one of the best experiences of the entire trip. I am telling everyone now, if you want to rent a Kayak or boat at Reelfoot, and just have an overall peaceful experience , go to The Blue Basin Cove Bed and Breakfast, only according to the owner..it is just now the Bed, no breakfast lol. The owner was a sweet lady that I really enjoyed talking gardening with while Aric and Catie went off on their Kayaking adventures...be sure to say hello to the talking dog while you're there also.  Cost of Kayak rentals...only $4.00 per hour...memories - priceless .
